Hviids’ famous mulled wine or “Gløgg” was first served in 1945. When former restauranteur Werner Hansen, discovered the recipe used to this day. The ever increasing demand, has meant that we now reach an annual production of 11.000 liters.

This process starts in May when the red wine and port is left to sleep with raisins and spices. It is then stored and the raisins, which are the only sweetener used, are pressed and thrown out. During the last part of the process cognac and dark rum are added respectively and before serving fresh raisins and a whole almond are added.

Interest in Hviids mulled wine, meant that in 2004 we began to bottle it in 1 liter bottles marked with the year of production. These bottles can only be purchased in Hviids Vinstue and have been a succes as “mandelgaver”, hostess gifs, corporate gifts, et.

The years mulled wine is served every year from the 11 th of November at 11.00.
